Use a Local AI Model (Ollama) with Your Teleprompter

Run a model on your own computer and let it work on your scripts. Ollama itself doesn’t connect to tools, so use an app on top of it that does: Open WebUI or LM Studio. Needs Teleprompter Studio Pro.

Pick a model that’s good at using tools (most recent general models are). Your scripts stay between your computer and Teleprompter Studio. No AI company sees them.

Open WebUI

Version 0.6.31 or later connects directly. As an Open WebUI admin:

Open Admin Settings → Integrations (External Tool Servers) and select + Add Connection.
Set Type to MCP (Streamable HTTP) and paste the server address above.
For Auth, either:
- OAuth 2.1: select Register Client and save. Each person then connects their own Teleprompter Studio account from the chat’s tools menu. Best when several people share Open WebUI.
- Bearer: paste a personal access token. Everyone using this connection then works on your scripts, so only do this for an Open WebUI that only you use.
Save, then switch the tool on in a chat.

If you self-host Open WebUI, set WEBUI_SECRET_KEY so sign-ins survive a restart.

LM Studio

In LM Studio’s right sidebar, open Program → Install → Edit mcp.json and add (with your personal access token):
