In ChatGPT

Custom MCP servers are available on ChatGPT’s workspace plans (Business, Enterprise and Edu) on the web; your workspace admin may need to allow them. ChatGPT renames this area from time to time; it’s currently called Plugins (earlier Apps or Connectors).

  1. Go to chatgpt.com/plugins, select +, then Add custom MCP server.
  2. Name it Teleprompter Studio and paste the server address above.
  3. For authentication choose OAuth and leave the client ID and secret empty. ChatGPT registers itself.
  4. Read the notice, confirm, and create it. Check the tools listed, then install it.
  5. In a new chat, type @, pick Teleprompter Studio, and sign in and choose Allow when asked.

ChatGPT asks you to confirm before it saves a script, but reading doesn’t need confirmation. ChatGPT can’t use personal access tokens; it always signs in.

The OpenAI API

Developers can give a model the Teleprompter Studio tools in the Responses API with a personal access token:

"tools": [{
  "type": "mcp",
  "server_label": "teleprompter_studio",
  "server_url": "https://teleprompterstudio.affirmdigitalproducts.com/api/mcp",
  "authorization": "<your token>",
  "require_approval": "always"
}]

The token isn’t stored by OpenAI, so send it with each request. Keep it secret, like a password.
